Skin issues

Hi all , I've recently been diagnosed with APS but without the lupus antibody ! Now since I first saw my Rheumatologist in Feb all sorts of things are going on that I'm noticing!

I have had mild eczema for years on and off but now all of a sudden my skin has gone into overdrive, strange itchy raised red spots on my arms and legs !

Also , does anyone else get weird sensations like tight bands in their legs , they feel cold even in the bath and bed !

Last question (sorry it's all so new ) my finger pads seem to have lost their padding and gone pruney! My hands have aged 10 years with cracking skin !

Am I becoming neurotic or do lots of funny things keep happening?

Thanks all

Hi & Welcome!

You really need to speak with your GP but if they are itchy, you could try using a non-perfumed soothing cream for dry skin. Do you suffer from eczema?

It sounds like your skin is dehydrated.

This is a difficult time in Lockdown so I don't know whether you can speak to your GP. He might want to order blood tests to see if there is any reason for these issues with your ski.

With good wishes,

Stay safe & be well!

Hi, are you on any new medication or changed/using more soaps?

I found a change in my skin when started on hydroxychoquine.

I've also diagnosed with sjogrens which causes my skin to be extremely dry.

Have episodes if psoriasis over the years, this clears up in sun but then get eczema!!

Please take pictures and log the symptoms (useful as usually by the time I see doctor they disappear! Lol)

Your GP is a good place to start and even with the virus they are open to discuss health issues with you.

Hi

If you are in the UK I have found Sainsbury's baby bath and baby shampoo really helps with itchy dry skin and scalp. I also use aqueous cream which you can buy in a tub from any pharmacy to be extremely good. You can use it on your face and wash off with water. My husband uses it for extremely dry skin. You are not going mad. Auto immune and eczema are related I have been told. The good news is that once you find the right products that are right for you it will be manageable. Do try the advice above upping your water intake it worked for me.

The itchy raised red spots sound like it might be,hives, and I think I have had very prunish tips before but probably way before I had APS. You should maybe see if you can talk to you doc particularly about cold legs in case blood flow is being affected somehow and ask about the other symptoms since I am just a reader not really knowledgeable

If it is dry skin from eczema or something similar try using a goats milk soap it is not cheep but worth every penny. If you put a search in google it will come up with products.
