I asked my hematologist if he would please order a folate test and he replied back that he orders the following which is better than the test I asked for:
Folate test: I asked my hematologist if... - Hughes Syndrome A...
Folate test
My Hematologist told me the same thing ( only after he ordered it and the test came back confirming I dined did have hyperhomocistinemia.
He placed me on 1 mg ( my results were mild) of methylated folic acid daily. He said it must be methylated.
If anyone else here has been tested for hyperhomocysteinemia and found positive, you might consider asking your Hematologist the pros of the methylated formulation of folic acid over standard. ( remember to always discuss the addition or change of any medication or supplement with your physician first.)
He gave me the name of a company to order it from in Amazon. Let me know if you would like the name. I’ll private message you as we are not allowed to promote any companies here per HU rules.
It is a good test, and probably better yes, if they think to do it it is a another useful tool for diagnosis, this is a bit lengthy but informative:
