Maybe a random question!

Hiya everyone, hope the slightly cooler weather is making you feel better! This may be a random question but does anyone suffer with boils and or verrucas? (Not in the same place I hasten to add!). I get both and have done for years and it only struck me recently that may it be due to our delightful syndrome (sarcasm 😝).

I have not had any in decades, but when I was a child I had recurring boils -- a cause was never established. Then I had warts and plantar warts show up in my teens (boils went away by then.) The warts on my hands and arms vanished by my later 20s, the plantar warts hung on, reduced post menopause and then finally vanished after I consulted with Cleveland Clinic's Functional Medicine and went on their detox diet. I don't know if my sharing my experience is relavant, but I do have APLS and, when a child and teen I had a lot of lupus symptoms. Relevant? 🤔

Thank you for replying, I too was thought to have Lupus about 20 years ago, it was only after several TIA’s (which started after open heart surgery) that the Stroke consultant did a raft of blood tests and sent me to Guys hospital where I was diagnosed with APS. I just seem to be getting more and more boils and usually when I’m not feeling so good, that it has me wondering if it could all be connected.

HI anybody can catch verrucas, however at times if you have an underlying autoimmune condition then things like this can get out of hand.

Regarding boils, I certainly developed acne when my Thyroid was not medicated, if you add low D, B12 and Iron to the mix then the body has less to fight infection with. Once I treated my Thyroid, my skin cleared up in that department. MaryF

Thanks Mary. I took your advice and had the thyroid tests done. A brilliant service, they have said the thyroid tests suggest healthy thyroid function. But my thyroid perixidase antibodies are elevated, commonly associated with Hashimoto ‘s or Graves’ disease. I am to check again in 12 months time but my gp suggested I do it 6 monthly. The level is 56.7 (range is0.00-34.00)

Also my CRP is very high at 36.29 ( range 0.00-5.00) so I wonder if this is why I am getting boils? Thank you so much for all your advice and Abs too. It is always very much appreciated

With your name and details taken off, do join Thyroid UK and put your results up, we encourage our members to join that forum on here, plus their charity is very very good. MaryF

Hiya Mary. I did as you suggested and wow! Within 30 minutes I’d had 2 people able to understand and comment on my results. They think the thyroid tests are low and with other results that I do in fact have Hashimoto’s. So back to GP I must go. Thank you again.
