Sorry to see this for you. I can relate. Be sure to watch your self so as you don't become anemic. Mine didn't stop until I had a hysterectomy. I was so exhausted and so tired of seeing bathroom doors amongst other things. After hysterectomy, I feel much less tired and can enjoy life more. I often tell myself I should have done it much sooner. Quality of my life is better.

I don't know if more children are in your future, if not this is something you and your physician may consider doing. I hope it slows down for you.

As Wittycjt has said, we can relate, I too had a hysterectomy which gave me my life back, my off days only lasted 3/5 days, the rest of the time I was bleeding with flooding and having large clots. I wasn't diagnosed then, so couldn't even blame it on anticoagulation!!

I'm sure there are medications or procedures less drastic now - have you been to see a gynaecologist? Maybe worth talking further to your GP.

Definitely go and see your go for a referral to gynae. They put me on a progesterone only tablet last year which really helped with my heaving bleeding, can't remember the name sorry. They also discussed the option of having the mirena coil fitted. There is lots that can be done. Good luck.

I know where you are coming from the worst bleed I had was 6 weeks and never more than a week off but I had an endometrial ablation nearly 2 years ago and have the odd very light bleed 2/3 days max maybe every 2/3 months as they said I was too young for a hysterectomy but it is so much better for me. Like the others have said watch you don't go anaemic as that is a whole extra raft of problems xx

I initially had ablation but it didn't work. They will tell you ablation may not work. I was also told if I had ablation done it could make it impossible to conceive a child. Make sure they explain your options to you. Best wishes for some relief!

Hi There this is one of the reasons I actually found this invaluable forum. Heavy periods and birth control. I had a mirena coil fitted three years ago. I read a lot of information about it and some was quite scary so I would suggest that you decide if it is for you. I have never been happier my periods are virtually nonexistent. Please have a chat with your GP or as recommended a gynaecologist for your options 🙂

I had terrible periods like you. Lasting days and I could not go out for the first two or three days. When I thought I had finished and after a bath it would still pour down my legs. Many time embarrassing episodes too when out or going to work. Plus horrible pain. I used to cry for my mother!!

How old are you? Are you approaching Menopause by any chance? Or are still young? Please let me know. Sxx

Oral progesterone might help. I take 200mg daily.

I had similar issues. Had an endometrial ablation done years ago and haven't bled a drop since! Best procedure ever! I'm also on a progesterone only pill called Norethindrone to help with ovary pain. There's two ways an ablation can be done. One way is to scrape out the layer and the other uses a thermal balloon device to scale it out. We decided to adopt our son instead of trying to go through a high risk pregnancy. I consulted my medical team about the Mirena IUD. They told me any time you have something foreign inserted in you, the risk of developing a clot goes up.
