hydroxychloroquine and swollen lymph nodes, sore throat...

Hi, before I go into panic mode, I thought I would ask advice regarding whether I should be in a panic! My doc did say to look out for sore throats when taking hydroxychloroquine . ( as well as riveroxaban ) but due to my dreadful memory , completely forgot that was a flag simptom. (Why?) also got quote a few large swollen lymph nodes on my arms. Took a while to work out that was what the big lumps were. I started taking fish oils recently, help the memory. Any connection or coincidence?

Thanks

I didn't have any symptoms when taking that combination but generally nodes swell with infection.  Worthwhile checking with your GP and maybe some antibiotics?  It's often tempting to lump everything that goes wrong down to APS and put off seeing a doctor (again)!

Not necessarily the medication, plenty of viruses around, and also check for infection.   MaryF

I'm taking 1200 mg per day and my lymph node in neck is swollen, Not sure it has anything to do with it.

I know this is an old post but just wondering what came of your swollen node? I have one swollen in my neck for 6 weeks now. No other symptoms. I have SLE and take 200 mg of hydroxychloroquine daily. No other symptoms and doctor can’t find a reason for swollen lymph node. He’s sending me for a biopsy in a few weeks.

No longer taking the medication. I probably stopped too soon, but didn’t feel any benefit. From time to time it still swells so don’t think it was related.

Hey did you ever find out why your lymph nodes were swollen? Drs don’t think it’s my plaquenil but I think Ill be stopping it in the morning to see. Trouble is it’s helped me a lot so I’m scared if I’ll go back to how I was

I did. I ended up having the lymph node removed to check it and it was nothing. Wasn’t anything to do with my plaquenil. Turned out to be nothing. I forget exactly how they said it but it was just the tissue of the lymph node was enlarged I guess. Not sure what your situation is but I have lupus and take plaquenil and it is working perfectly for me. I guess sometimes lymph nodes are just reactive and it doesn’t often mean something bad is happening. But I definitely understand the need to know what’s happening. Good luck! I hope you figure it out soon.
