How is the physical therapy progressing? With me as I posted earlier therapy helped immensely – but it takes a while to kick in. And the definition of "a while" depends on how quickly your body is able to rise to the exercise challenge and build more muscle mass. Don't overdo it, but make sure you are eating protein and calcium containing foods every day.

Also, the relationship between stress and inflammation makes a lot of evolutionary sense. But in today's world that relationship just makes coping with chronic illness a lot more difficult. For one thing a lot of priggish doctors think that inner stress is causing chronic illness. As a patient I can tell you – and I would like to make this clear to all those priggish doctors --that the chronic illness is what causes the stress which causes the escalation of chronic illness symptoms. NOT vice versa! So with that preceding sentence, do not take the following suggestion as condescension: make sure that for 20 to 30 minutes each day you do something which puts your mind in a state of calm. Meditation, a nice walk, a good book, time spent just petting the cat or the dog until the purring starts or the eyes roll back in ecstasy. By doing such you are counteracting all those nasty inflammatory hormones caused by the stress of dealing with your very real illness.

Good luck with the physical therapy and with the acupuncture! And let us know how things progress. We are here to support each other as we try to share navigational hints we have individually gleaned as we all travel down our individual autoimmune roads.
