Hello everyone, I haven't been on here that often over the last 3 months, but i just wanted to update you all. My partner and I went to the hospital thursday morning as i started bleeding. We had a scan and the scan revealed that our baby's heart had stopped beating and that i've had a missed miscarriage. We are both so gutted, I honestly thought that this was it, that after losing our son in march, then experiencing a miscarriage in july, that this baby was going to be ok. Im beginning to lose hope but have the fight in me to carry on and not give up, we cant give up. I would do anything for a normal, healthy pregnancy. I would have been 12+3 weeks on thursday when we found out. Once i hit that 12 week marker, a little bit more hope was felt. The doctor we spoke too after to discuss what happens now, told us that the baby's heart stopped beating around 10weeks, and i'm so annoyed because i didn't even know. i felt no pain and had no bleeding until now.... 2 weeks later. I hate that this has happened, i'm starting to wonder if i will ever have children of my own. Maybe now my consultant might look into things further and see if there is an underlying problem despite the Hughes and Lupus. I hope you are all well. xo

So sorry! You're in my prayers! Did the doctor have you on heparin?

I was only able to have one child. I had four miscarriages. We didn't know back then that I had Hughes/ APS. They told me if they had known that they would have put me on heparin and it probably would have prevented the four miscarriages.

Hello NanaPam, thank you for your kind words. Yes I was taking the Heparin injections daily along side 150mg of Aspirin daily. I've taken both these with my most recent pregnancy, and a pregnancy before that, and each time I'm left with less hope that the Heparin and Aspirin aren't working, and that there could be another underlying problem. Im hoping to ask my consultant a few questions and request further tests be done when I get my appointment through. I hope your well.

Hello, I am truly sorry to hear about your sad news. Please draw your close family and friends close around you. You must take the time to heal. Many have been in your situation, and are on this forum and will understand what you are going through only too well, As your body repairs itself and you approach new consultations, please make sure they check your Thyroid, b, D and iron levels alongside anything else, poor thyroid function can cause problems also, and is common with Lupus and Hughes Syndrome.

Please use this forum as much as you feel able, to to draw support from other members, sending you warm wishes. MaryFx

I echo what Mary has said. Definitely look at thyroid as it can cause miscarriages too. A specialist I saw said he gives thyroxine to patients even with borderline underactive thyroid. Of course overactive can be a problem too. Please ask about it, I'm sorry for you having yet another loss. I think you are being very strong. I too, had 2 miscarriages and a still birth. Also, please ask your consultant about taking heparin whilst TTC. I truly believe this did it for me. It's all about implantation and in my view taking it after a positive test is too late. Sending hugs xxx

I am so sorry to read your post. I never lost a child, though my 2nd was a high risk pregnancy. I was fortunate that my Hughes did not develop until after our 2 daughters arrived in the world.

I agree with Mary. Take time to heal and mourn. Keep your hopes up. We're all holding you in the light.

Many of us are all too aware of the pain you're feeling. All I can say is keep going until you feel like you just can't do it anymore.. I lost 4 before I was blessed with my first and then another 3 between my 1st and second child. The last baby I lost was at 16 weeks which prompted me to see a specialist in London. This resulted in me being put on steroids for the first 12 weeks of any subsequent pregnancies (as well as the clexane and aspirin). I wish you every success in your future and love at this time of loss. We're always here to listen if you need us xxxx Kate xxxx

I mourn for the loss of your babies. Unfortunately, this is a common painful experience to many of us. I have APS and had four children. I didn't miscarry early, just delivered from 30 to 35 weeks. My first daughter also has positive blood tests for APS. She had two babies successfully on heparin and aspirin. However, my second daughter, who only has one indicator of the three for APS has miscarried twice at 10 weeks. Upon further investigation, the doctors have found that she does not have enough Progesterone to maintain her pregnancies. They plan to supplement her hormone (progesterone) levels and believe that she can carry a baby until viable. She isn't emotionally ready to try this yet, but it may be something else to have checked?

My heart and best wishes go out to you and your family.
