As per all other such queries, if you have a pain like this please do get in touch with your GP, this sort of things needs checking in a medical facility. All the best. MaryF

It is a chronic rather than an acute pain. No cause for it has yet been found. We just noticed that the info supplied with the warfarin mentions it as a side effect and wondered if anyone else had experience of it?

Ok, but still keep an eye on it, chest pain can be a funny thing, my daughter had really awful chronic chest pain, and turned out to be walking pneumonia which comes on quite slowly over time. I think with any autoimmune condition we can have a tendency for inflammation anywhere... and not always clear cut. MaryF

We will do. My husband had pneumonia in the other lung in August but the CT scans are not picking up any cause for this ongoing pain, just clutching at straws!

I clicked on this topic because I've had an occasional yet frequent pain in my lower left rib cage area. When it happens, it feels like a stabbing pain. It goes away after a little while. Am curious to go back and read the side effects for my warfarin. What does it say specifically?

It says" severe pain in the upper abdomen, which is inflammation of the pancreas"

Hi Lorraine,

As an answer to your question I have never heard of any sideeffects of warfarin except for bleeding of course. Anyway they are not common and warfarin is still said to be very effective for this illness. ( Prof Hughes himself has said that early this year.)

Did you get the possibility to see other Doctors in Scotland when you were at London Bridge and saw Dr Khasmana (?). A remittance to a Cardiolog perhaps?

A Happy Cristmas to you both from Kerstin

An apt has arrived today to see a cardiologist at beginning of January , so that's good. Dr Khasmana is also writing to GP to hopefully arrange for my husband to be seen at Guys hospital as a referral. Visit was definitely worth it .

Well, that was really very good. Also a quick answer on that referral I think. Is Guys hospital in London? Not in Scotland I guess.

I am going to do an "Echocardiography with doppler" soon. I do it at least every year.

I believe the visit was worth it by all means. I wish you two a Happy Christmas. Please give my best regards to your husband.

Yes, London. Thank you. My husband has pulmonary hypertension , but not breathless. He had an Echo previously and due a repeat soon . Merry Christmas to you and your family too.

I have Pulmonary Hypertension also and my blood pressure was really high. Was better after bloodpressure med and heartdrugs and even better when I started warfarin. I feel best at 3.5 - 4.0 in INR.

i too have been experiencing left side chest pain since starting on warfarin in november - it is different to the pain which i had when my initial problem was diagnosed (takutsubo/left ventricle cardiomyopathy & emboli in left ventricle) - it is also different to costochondritis i have had in the past and it is not wind - i went into A&E when it got worse but was reassured that all investigations showed nothing abnormal

when i went for an echocardiogram yesterday and complained that the probe was causing pain on my ribcage the radiographer mentioned that this was not uncommon with patients on warfarin - so i felt a little reassured

did your visit to the cardiologist in january give you any answers?
