Two years ago I had a stroke and was consequently diagnosed as having APS. A nutritionist told me about a blood group diet by Dr D'Adamo, which helps alter my sticky blood. I've tried it and feel good, I've lost weight too! Anyone else on it?
Has anyone tried the blood group diet... - Hughes Syndrome A...
Has anyone tried the blood group diet by Dr. Peter D'Adamo? My blood type is O which requires me to avoid wheat and eat red meat & red fruit
Hi there,
I have APS and blood Group O. How has this diet helped you with sticky blood? Are you on Warfarin?
Do you think that a nutritionist are able to have enough knowledge of this illness that so few doctors know?
Have your APS-doctor approved it? Very interesting to hear more about it .Not known here in Sweden as far as I know.

I know a lot of people with autoimmune conditions go on the Paleo Diet which seems for some to help with various irritations that the disease can cause. Certainly on extensive reading and talking to the right people I came to the conclusion that gluten was a no no. I have noticed that most people find a real difference with this including myself. I shall never eat it again. MaryF
I am really quite convinced that all the auto immune presentations plus aps possibly have a dietary influence.
There are so many people that seem to find relief from one diet or another that there may be a common factor
There has been quite a lot written about leaky gut when the intestinal bacterial balance has got out of control causing problems.
Thats where I am hedging my bets at the moment as to the root of most auto immune issues.
If that is the case then people altering their diets in some way will almost certainly have a effect.
Well said!. I think all people should think of what they put in their mouth. This APS is an illness that can attack all parts of the body as stomach and digestion. A very good Rheumatologist here in Sweden suggested that I should stick to "stone age diet" 10 years ago. I have followed his advise partly. Kerstiin
Yes Lure2, your Stone Age diet is very similar to the blood group diet which classes blood group O as the hunter gatherer (meat, berries, fruit, veg, but no wheat or dairy). Seems no gluten is the key generally.
Thank you Tess 43.
I will carry on with it and be careful with wheat and diary. Appreciated it very much. Kerstin
Are you still on the blood type diet? How are your APS-related symptoms? One aspect of the diet is that certain foods contain compounds called lectins that cause agglutination of the blood. For blood type O, it's a more varied diet than Paleo because it allows certain legumes such as Black Beans, Adzuki Beans, Black-Eyed Peas. Wheat, corn, soy (especially if GMO) are the worst foods for blood type O.
I have APS and is blood type O. Do you also have APS and where do you find these infos. Are they relevant? This is something new for me.

My wife probably has APS. The original blood type diet book is called "Eat Right 4 Your Type" and was published in 1996. The author is Peter D'Adamo, and the info is in his many publications. You can also read various articles on his website, dadamo.com/ . Good luck to you!
Thank you!
Hope your wife takes the blood-test with antibodies required to get a diagnose of our illness or/and read about APS to understand the different symptoms we have. It is a rare and tricky blood-disorder with too thick blood that has to be properly thinned with a stable range all the time.
