They can push up your inr. I took more than usual recently and my inr jumped up. Do you self test? I do, so test my inr and then phone the clinic if my dose needs adjusting. Otherwise you would need to get this done at your clinic.

I have weeks where I get a lot of headaches, but these are usually due to my neck and I find gentle osteopathy makes a great difference.

I dont self test as I've only just started taking warfarin. I've had a headache for 3 days and it won't go. Its time of the month so not sure if its that.

We are not medical professionals on here and we cannot provide medical advice, you must ask your doctor or pharmacist about this issue.

Hi,

You and I "talked" some Days ago and you had just taken your second dose and had 2.4? Right? You shall have 2.0 - 3.0 as the doctor has told you on INR as a target.

2.0 is very low for us with APS. Do you have a doctor that knows what APS is? Has it been OK with the INR after 2.4 or have you not taken any more lab.tests?

As Dave has told you we are no doctors but only having APS also and I am on warfarin and selftest.

But if I shoud give you an adwise I suggest you to call that Doctor in charge and tell him about your headache so you can be tested immediately to find out if the INR is not in range. Taking paracetamol changes the INR. That is why you must be tested again as soon as possible.

I am so sorry to hear that you have headache. It is always a bit difficult to start warfarin. Take care and contact your doctor in charge. It is their responisbility to help you!

Best wishes from Kerstin in Stockholm

Hi there as Dave says we can't advise on medication as if medical professionals, but if I were you, push to bring your next appointment forward and also keep a diary, to see if any pattern fits around a) diet b) hormones or c) anything else. It may be a some adjustment for you, time wise. Keep us posted. MaryF x

I have chronic migraine which is most likely a result of APS. I have been on so many different medications to try to deal with it. I even tried Botox with no luck. Unfortunately, it just takes you and your doctor trying different meds to try to get a handle on it. After years, I have finally found something that works, for now.

I take 8 Paracetamol and 8 Tramadol every day ans it does not seem to make any alteration to my INR if I miss some out, so I would imagine it is having little effect on my INR.

Warfarin is listed as "Minor" on the product interaction listing.

What we do have to look at though is the interaction of whatever is causing the need to take Warfarin. If we have a fever or a viral infection it will effect our INR, but if we take Paracetamol to help the symptoms the changes in INR can be (sometimes mistakenly) attributed to the Paracetamol and not the fever or infection that is causing the underlying problem. When we are ill our antibodies raise and so do our autoantibodies (LA, IgG, IgM,, ANA etcetera) and it becomes a very difficult area to pinpoint the exact cause.

I hope that helps a little, I would sooner have a slightly altered INR for a day than put up with a headache for too long.

Yes I know we can take paracetamol. But lewchar1 has just STARTED warfarin and is slowly trying to become in range.

Like with everything as it comes to warfarin it is CONSTANTY that is important. So if you are on a constant intake of paracetamol then it is OK. I understand that you are not taking a constant amount of paracetamol that is why you shall contact the doctor to-day! Kerstin

I have an appointment for later today so hopefully get sorted out. Thanks for all your replies.

Quick update. Saw nurse and INR dropped slightly but ok. Had a good chat and feel better about things now. Thanks everyone xx

I would also add that for me a headache is almost always a sign that my Inr is low. Because warfarin is so interactive I like to stay between 3 and 4. That way if I eat something and it drops a pt, i am still in range. It also took me about a month and a half to stabilize in the beginning. And it first, my doctor was reluctant to push my Inr higher. But after a while he and got the hang of it and figured out where I felt best.
