Am so pleased, got phonecall from appointments this morning and I am to see Dr. D,Cruz on 25th July. This is much sooner than I expected and I also was worried that I might have to see someone else. Have to go early which I will struggle with, but there was no way I would have passed up that appt. even if they wanted me there at the crack of dawn!

Hi hon

Great news, from all I've seen on here and heard he's a fantastic doctor! Also heard him speak at last years patients forum, he was very knowledgable, so a great choice!

Let us know how you get on!

Gentle hugs and love Sheena xxxxx :-) :-) :-)

He and Beverly Hunt are brilliant. i used to go to David D'Cruz armed with a load of questions and he was always so nice about it and helpful too.

I have been seeing Professor D'Cruz for over 6 years, he is brilliant. He gets straight to the heart of the problem and if he feels that you need to be seen somewhere else in the hospital then he will sort that out too.

Good luck.

Every doctor I have seen at St Thomas's have been absolutely fantastic, they listen and if you have questions; they will answer. Such a difference compared to the Doc's at home (Wales) ! I look forward to my appointments because its good to go to a hospital and know they know what you are talking about. I saw Dr Khamashta a few weeks ago, and he was so supportive. Unfortunately, on the way home I suddenly got a painful leg (Friday afternoon), left it till Monday before going to my GP; was told I had a DVT,. no surprise there; she phoned the hospital where I have been seen over the years with various things (PE's, DVT's, bleeds into knees, pericarditis and the rest!), and she was told that there was no point in having a scan as I was on warfarin, and they would'nt do anything anyway! My GP was not happy, and tried another hospital; I went had a scan (yes a DVT) sent to the DVT clinic- see the warfarin nurse. She did'nt know what to do with me- my INR was at the right level, and she could not spell Antiphospholipid Syndrome or Sjogren's or Systemic Lupus Arythamatosis and she had never met someone with any of these conditions. She managed to find a Consultant, who prescribed subcutaneos Innuhep. I saw her Friday (the consultant) and she had problems with the conditions, but was pleasant; she said she had spoken to Graham Hughes last week!!!

She is writing to St Thomas's and every doctor I have seen over the years!!I am not quite sure why! She has told me to stop warfarin and stick to the Innuhep, see her again in 6 weeks.

My point is, when health care professionals cannot even spell your condition; it does not bode well!

I asked her if it was appropriate for me to have had the scan ; as I was on warfarin and my INR was on target; she told me it was absolutely important to have a scan, to confitm the clot and to prescribed the necessary treatment; 1:6 people with DVT die within 4 weeks!and they are the folk who are not on anti-coagulants, but are then prescribed warfatin. So she felt my risk of dying would be much higher, yippee!

Sorry, I've suddenly realised I am venting.

Anyhows; Dr D'Cruz is fantastic, we are so lucky to have these folk who have the information, skills and knowledge to treat us complicated peoples!
