Does anyone take Plavix instead of Coumadin/Warfarin or LMWH? Have you had any issues with it?

Anyone taking Plavix?
Hi there I take Prasugrel as Plavix didn't agree with one of my other drugs. plavix (like Prasugrel) is an antiplatelet whilst coumadin etc are anticoagulants they do very very different jobs. I take the Prasugrel because I can't take aspirin (allergic) and some times it's combined with heparin (and that's when I feel amazingly well). You have to watch your stomach - same as with aspirin and anti inflamatories and you can find yourself brusing more easily. I have a couple of leaky varicose veins and find they are "active" when the prasugrel is working well. But other than that no problems.
Best wishes

Hi Charis, i was on plavix untill about three weeks ago when i saw the Rheumatologist for my blood results. Which if i am honest am a little gobsmacked by what he told me, he said you dont have any antibobies for APS now weirdly i was diagnosed over 13 yrs ago by a different doctor who at first said to take aspirin which i wasnt able to and yes antinflamatoies is another i cant take through stomach issues, anyway back to the point, he took me off them because the fear of major bleeds outways the concerns for clots, in my case not had a major clot only tiny ones in my veins. So now i am not being treated with any meds for hughes which is fine by me but i dont understand if i have it or not now, oh well on the up side less meds to take as already taking many for other health issues, xxxx
Heavenly,
Oh my, please be careful. Just because you don't have antibodies now doesn't mean you don't have APS/Hughes anymore. Autoimmune disorders wax and wane. Your body can produce those antibodies and put you at risk for a clot WHENEVER. I am no doctor, but this is a VERY risky move and I would look into this to be sure you're safe doing this. My doctor told me I would never come off of thinners, even tho my antibody levels fluctuate.
