Me too... Slight slip on the stairs and my foot folded in half like a it was as soft as a piece of bread.

Went for check up for my son today....lump on top of foot, like lump of bone, they xrayed...expecting to find a fracture.. even though he has had no injury they can remember, so an expected stress fracture... apparently different from acute, they come on.. and get worse over time...and I note from reading blurb on the NHS that is says often with first x ray they do not show up... but tend to show up two to three weeks later! This appears to have happened.. So foot increasingly difficult to walk on, but not unbearable with lump on top, which feels like lump in bone! We have to go back again. Mary F x

Well he has done nothing apart from wear and tear and school, he is only part time due to chronic daily migraine.. serious pain... and on aspirin twice a day....but my sister has already had one of these..hers was deemed nothing.. and did not show up properly for 3 weeks afterwards.. I understand with the stress ones rather than the acute, this can be the case, they have just said that to me. So will watch and wait. Mary F x

Sorry to here your lad is in the wars Mary i hope he gets some relief soon.

My son has inherited my genes so like myself is often unwell, it's hard being a mom & watching an offspring go through pain..

I hope your health is keeping stable so you are well enough to support him, my son is older than yours so we help one another.

I wish I was well enough to get to St T's patient day it has been years since i was there.

Aps makes me laugh can you ask her to sit on Pro Hughs for me......I hope it's a great day for all. Jillymo XX

Hi, sorry your boy is in the wars Mary.

Metatarsal fractures are documented as complication of APS. Prof Hughes has mentioned them at Patients Forum in the past.

I'm sure Kate will know about it x

Yes, thanks more than aware in fact I went to the hospital armed with the very paper he co wrote on the subject....we have to go back... and then as mentioned above I will push for other tests, as it is clear there is something really wrong... and I told them yesterday that it would not show up on x ray to start with, and included an article from NHS choices saying this very thing! Thanks. Mary F x

I had a martatarsal stress fracture when I was about 7 months

Pregnant with my daughter. Not fun! It happened when I was just walking! But didn't seem like much for : weeks then suddenly it was very painful, swollen & black & blue. I was suspicious about the heparin being partly to blame & all the extra weight did me in. Hope he feels better. Lots of rest!

thanks.. we are at the stage of having been to casualty and seen by 'nurse practitioner' who did her best and showed me the x ray... which of course showed nothing... we are due back on Wednesday... he is trying not to walk on it, and it is getting progressively worse... apparently he will then see a consultant.. I am armed with APSnotFab's reply... Mary F x

I had a metatarsal fracture - stepped off awkwardly at the bottom of the stairs and the next thing I was on the floor in agony. I was in plaster for six weeks. Six months later I had a blood clot in my finger and then my APS and Lupus journey was on its way! I was told by Dr D'Cruz when I was diagnosed that the metatarsal fracture had actually been caused by a blood clot in the bone. I am amazed at how many other people have had the same issue!
