Hi All

Just read this interesting article by Dr Briffa and thought it applied very well to this community - patient powered health.

BTW - this year, we are hoping to have an APS patient in the BMJ Patient Journey he also mentions at the end :)

Glad to hear there are some doctors out there that are quite happy to keep learning!! People know there own bodies, and know when something is wrong. Sarahx

Yes, it's an acquired taste isn't it?!

I think the main problems with CCGs will be making profit - the NHS doesn't have 'customers' they can charge but the multinationals such as PwC, Ernst Young and KPMG certainly will. Already patients are being told they can't have the testing strips on prescription as they are deemed as non-essential medication, much as a lot of people taking vitamin D are being told to buy that themselves.

It's all very well if you can afford it, but I worry for those who will be left behind. They say you should judge a country, not by its rich, but by its poor ...

Good luck with that! Yes, I see a year of turmoil ahead for almost all patients. I will find it interesting when I have to ask my GP for heparin - VERY expensive ...
