One time exposure

Hey all,

I had an exposure in nov 2015, I got tested with 4 th gen at 3 and 6 month mark. I also got hiv 1 rna ( the only FDA approved). All tests negative. My risk was a condom failure with CSW ( vaginal) . I read a lot of cases ( one including in this community) about late seroconversion. Been super stressed for the last 8 months!

I guess telling you to stop worrying is not going to work ?!

Firstly , do you know if your partner was HIV positive - if they aren't then there is no risk to you - end of !

HIV is quite hard to catch , and after only one possible exposure and several negative tests it is very very unlikely that you are infected .

Hey griffon

Unfortunately no, I am unaware of her status but she was promiscuous. I know that says nothing.

Look at the facts ;

You have no reason to suppose that your partner was HIV positive , and statistically this is less likely for heterosexuals .

Research has shown that in general you need to be exposed more than once to become infected .

You have had repeated negative tests .

It is VERY unlikely you are infected .

Stop worrying !

Hi Hussler, You can relax.... a negative result 3 months post exposure is considered conclusive with modern testing. The 6 month test is outdated, but as you did test after 6 months, that gives you even more confidence that you are negative.
