Hi guys can it take more than 3 months to produce antibodies to hiv??

Anyone heard of anyone who tested negative at 84 days and then positive later on like at 6 months

Hi i looked at all your posts to get the story. first your mouth. i can't see the parts i would be looking at if I uspected thrush, but what i can see almost definitely isn't thrush. Thrush is quite painful too. You are concerned as thrush is a symptom of HIV, but really it is a symptom of advanced HIV.

I understand why you are so worried as you had risk then symptoms that could have been seroconversion after 10days. However if it had been seroconversion, you would have tested positive at the 84 day test, as seroconversion is when your body reacts to the invading virus and develops antibodies.

Have you been tested in UK or other equivalent country healthcare wise?

It's highly likely that contracted another viral infection that made you ill and because you perceive yourself to have been at risk of HIV its hard to put it out of your mind. Did you have complete screen for all STIS including Hepatitis B and C and did you have a routine blood test to screen for malaria and other infections?

I tested in Gibraltar at 9 weeks and then at 84 days in Spain. But I am really worried as my palms have red and white patches and my nausea is bad. Today I also started to bring up blood in my saliva which was very scary. Tomorrow I a going to the doctors again

I asked you a few questions which you haven't answered, and gave you facts but you seem to be ignoring them. I don't think you are listening to advice, and we can't help you more if you are fixated on HIV. You could have syphilis or another infection if you keep obsessing about HIV which is ruled out, you make it harder to find the real cause of your symptoms.

I hope you get sorted out and can stop worrying.

Sorry I did not reply correctly. Please excuse my ignorance. Yes been tested at 9 weeks and 84 days.

The 9 weeks test was a full std test. Which included hiv syphilis. Hepatitis was not performed because I have the vaccination. All was negative.

They also did a malaria test and was also negative. This was done 9 weeks after exposure.

My bloods were all normal apart from slightly high liver enzymes.

Doctors are doing more blood tests tomorrow.

Ask for repeat syphilis and a hepatitis c test. Hcv can be (rarely) sexually transmitted and there is no vaccine. Syphilis can take a while to come back positive. The fact your liver function test was a little high indicates you did pick up some viral illness. Have you had hepatitis A vaccine too? In uk we dont routinely vax for hepatitis a, we do for b in people at risk. Let me know how you get on.

Yes I am in the military and I have the hepatitis vacination. I will get the tests done. I did actually have sex the was no penetration. However there was kissing and alot if genital rubbing. By this I mean we were both naked and rubbing. I had allot of pre cum and she was very wet. I am not circumsisted and my skin was pulled back. So U was exposed to her fluids. Aparently she was hiv pos but recently infected inside 6 weeks

But I will carryon your advice and get the tests

It's not likely you have caught HCV then as that is even more rare to transmit in heterosexual sex and with no penetrative sex, well unless she was menstruating virtually impossible. If you are immune to HAV and HAV and tested negative for HIV and Syphilis 12 weeks post exposure it is most likely you won't ever find out what made you unwell. It isn't so easy for a man to catch HIV from a woman and with no penetrative sex, a negative screen for other STIs and your negative screen so long after your symptoms developed I am sure this has not been seroconversion.

My ex was an off shore medic in Angola and came home on leave very sick - I was sure he had malaria buy it wasn't, then worried he had HIV but he didn't. He was in hospital for 2 days and just got better in the end. We haven't got the experience in Europe to recognise and test for every posdible tropical disease or infection. If you were still in Gambia the doctors there might have recognised it. I work with lots of people from African countries and there are a multitude of infections we screen for if they are unwell. If you are improving now it may be you never know.

Your anxiety is understandable as it was very low risk but not no risk sex, but you are well out of window period now, you have to put it behind you and concentrate on eating well and getting over your illness.

Thanks for all your advise. If there were only more people like you. To be totally honest my symptoms have not gotten any better. I have felt ill since 10 days after my exposure. So for months now. I wish all this only lasted for a couple of weeks like that I would not feel as I do. The worst part is the sickness/nausua I feel for most part of the day, much worse in the morning. And my frequently bowel movements are crazy. Constantly with loose stool. Doctors are carring out more blood tests today as they are worried about all my syphtoms. The doctor told me that she is worried as my mouth is in a bad state with ulcers and lots of patches on my tougue. I had allot of blood in my saliva yesterday so they are going to carryout lots of different tests.

The doctor told me that they will not stop until they find whats wrong with me.

Thanks for you time yet again

I hope it's nothing very serious and long lasting, you must be very frightened. The doctors sound very thorough though, I am sure they will find a way to help you get well. Listen to your body, get plenty of rest and eat as well as you can. I wish I could help you more! Please message me If there is ever anything you want to ask.

Mirren thank you very much. Thanks to people like you I find comfort. It is very frightening because it all happend 10 days after that exposure and I have never felt so ill for so long or had as many symptoms as this. At the moment it feels like life is at a stand still for me. It would help if I could get a good night sleep as not slept much in the last 4 months. Doctors took bloods today. And I have another full std test booked for July the 25 which is just over 6 months.

Thanks yet again for being amazing x
