Dear Jason, Jeanette and all,

I have been on Triumeq, I found it an easy medication to take and I had no side effects at all.

Triumeq is a single pill that combines three different HIV drugs. These are an integrase inhibitor called dolutegravir plus two RTIs (nukes) called abacavir and 3TC (lamivudine).

The side effect are generally mild and uncommon. For example, the most commonly reported side effects in studies were insomnia, headache and feeling tired (in 3%, 2% and 2% of people. These were similar to other HIV combinations. They were not reported by most people and they caused very few people to stop treatment.

As with most medications if you do have any side effects they will probably go way after a few weeks once your body has had a chance to get used to them.

There is more detailed information about Triumeq on the i-Base web site at the following address i-base.info/guides/10303

i-Base also do a really good range of publications for people living with HIV including a guide to starting treatment called "Introduction to ART" at i-base.info/guides/starting and "HIV and your quality of life" at i-base.info/guides/7463

All of the i-Base guides are available online as web pages and as PDF downloads.

Print copies can be ordered online using the form on the form at the following address i-base.info/forms/order.php. These are free to individuals and UK-based clinics and support groups. I believe if you are living outside the UK they will send you one copy of each publication you order.

They also have a treatment information line which runs Mon, Tues, Wed 12-4 pm 0808 800 6013 Calls are free in the UK from land lines and most mobile networks including the main six: 3, O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Virgin and Vodafone. Calls will not be itemised on your bill.

If you are outside the UK they have an online Q&A service at i-base.info/qa/ask-a-question.

Nearly all of the staff at i-Base are living with HIV, so may well have direct experience of any problems you may want to talk to them about. I worked for the organisation for over ten years as their IT manager, so I have no hesitation in recommending them as an excellent source of information.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Paul.

Thank you for your reply Paul. It was a brilliant and sounds very positive!

I don't know if I have the insomnia side effects already but haven't slept at all since my first tablet yesterday, exhausted is an understatement, other than that so far so good with no other side effects!

Great deal of information you've given, I will use the links you added...

Kindest thanks for your response,

Jenetti

I've heard it's the best if it works for you. 10% of people can't take it.
