If I eat tinned mackerel it seems to lead to a very erratic heartbeat and pressure in the chest for about 20 seconds. Has anyone experienced this connection? I suppose it might just be coincidence.

Sounds a bit fishy to me. Perhaps the best solution is to not eat the mackerel.
Would be better to take the mackerel out of the tin first.
Just possible you are histamine intolerant? Tinned fish is high in histamines, I believe. Sounds unlikely but worth checking. Or maybe it sticks in your throat a bit, it can be quite dry.
