Brugada Syndrome is a rare inherited heart rhythm disorder, in which the heart is structurally normal. The risks posed is experiencing a rapid heart rhythm due to the ion channels (pores in the cellular membrane that allow the passage of ions across the impermeant lipid cell membrane) of the heart.
Signs and symptoms of Brugada can be irregular or rapid/erratic heart rhythm, that can lead to a sudden cardia arrest (SCA) if left undetected or treated.
I have been diagnosed with Brugada syndrome, but never had any symptoms of it. Two years ago I had a cardiac ablation because a rogue circuit in my heart was throwing my heartbeat out of wack and giving me arrhythmia. The operation corrected the problem. I felt no different, only noticing the arrhythmia because I regularly check my wrist pulse. All is regular now. The only other inconvenience was that Brugada has to be declared to the DVLA if you drive.
Thank you for your response and sharing your medical history, it really highlights the importance of getting to know and monitoring your pulse, often many individuals are unaware they have an arrhythmia and may go undiagnosed for a sometime.
I am pleased you are well now - fingers crossed you are able to return to driving in due course.
