I've just started taking it today. Any thoughts I would appreciate it I'm so confused as to what to do anymore taking it for psvt and for eptopics. I have put off starting this medication due to my bradycardia but yesterday I had a terrible incident with psvt.

Hi Autumn822, There's probably absolutely no need to worry about a heart beat in the mid 50s, especially if you are being helped by your metoprolol. Although your heart rate comes into the category of being termed bradycardia, that simply means slow heart rate and many fit people's hearts beat at this rate and lower. I live with a resting heart rate of around 50 from taking bisoprolol for AF and whilst my cardiologist feels I shouldn't take a higher dose than the 5mg daily which I have, he's quite happy with my heart beating away at 50bpm. If you are still worried, maybe check your own situation out with your medical provider but don't let the term bradycardia scare you.

I had a pacemaker fitted so I could take Bisoprolol without it causing bradycardia, I was very symptomatic if my rate dropped below 60.
