I've been taking a very low dose of Metoprolol for many years 2 x 12.5mg. Mostly alongside Flecainide, but I did in the very early days take just the Metoprolol and it would take my BP and pulse down very low.

For me this drug is very potent and I once, when my heart rate was extremely high, was given 2 x 50mg one night while in hospital. I got out of bed the next morning and collapsed. Later my cardiologist came rushing down with the print out results from the heart monitor I'd been wearing and pushed it towards me saying, look what your heart has been doing! Well, what was on the paper meant nothing to me! My AF nurse then told me I must never take a normal dose as it could kill me. This is just a peculiarity with me so don't worry.

Bisoprolol just didn't work for me. Although I've had AF for 15 years, some of it quite disabling, with spells in hospital. I don't think I've ever had ectopics.

Yes I first started with bisoprolo, and changed to metoprolol 100mg a day. Have had great test results since, it's been over a year.

I was on metro for a couple years. Then Lat spring it stopped working for svt Arrythmia. They became worse. So a doc changed me to Nebivolol and that almost killed me as I tried to 2 months to let that drug kick in. Never did. Just incredibly bad episodes of Arrythmia and palpitatIona and then o developed paroxysmal afib. So this fall I changed back to metro but again it isn’t work. So for the lat two weeks on Bisoprolol 10mg at 5mg AM and g at night. It’s slowing my heart rate down too much and it makes my heart hurt, likes it’s working too hard to pump. And starting yesterday my palpitations are back. With a vengeance, worse than ever. So my cardio wants to put me though ablation now. I’m concerned about the risks.

That sound tough . I also have svt but was controlled by verapamil for years , but cardio said it would not help the ectopics that had started up & changed me to bisoprolo which has worked mostly till recently! There must be another drug that is good for both conditions

But seems bisoprolo is 1st choice to treat both

It took me 6 weeks to function on bisoprolo
