I have not posted for a while as I had nothing to post about. I have just returned from seeing a cardiothoracic surgeon who has offered me surgery to remove a clot which is in my heart and to ablate at the same time. This would be open heart surgery for the clot removal and ablate at the same time. Has anyone had this procedure and if so what outcome have they experienced? He pointed out all my options from doing nothing unless it impinged on my life significantly and made no promises as to whether it would made my breathlessness any easier. I told him that after I had a cardioversion I felt back to normal so I was happy(well not happy!) to agree to the surgery and take the chance of getting a normal life back, but I would like to hear from anyone who has had tis procedure done. My health is good except for the AF.
PS: waiting time 3-4 months.

Hello Cali, sorry to hear that you have got to have this procedure, but if the intervention eases your breathlessness, then it sounds worthwhile. I am fortunate in that I have only to undergo an ablation to ease AF, which I am going to see my specialist about in mid-October. I wish you well, and look forward to hearing how you got on after the operation.
