Hot feet anyone?

OK not exactly hot but my lower legs are pretty sore. I recently lost a toe-nail (right) so at first associated the discomfort with that. But it got worse and affected both legs from the lower calf to the ankle. Right worse than left. Very surface pain. I am not diabetic but I do have COPD and underwent chemo and stuff for leukaemia 12 years ago.

First visit to GP suggested oedema and he put me on furosemide but frankly I don't think that is it. It has not worsened in two weeks but is not better either.

Anyone any experience I can use to help soonish re-visit to GP?
