After total hysterectomy

Hi has anybody had discomfort after total abdominal hysterectomy. I had mine 5 weeks ago and after I’ve sat for a while I get a pain as if there is something digging in me on my left of my tummy above my bikini line where they cut and after walking my tummy feels very heavy like a dead weight. Is this normal or do I need to see a doctor. It is very uncomfortable.

Hi, sorry you are feeling it. I had it too after a full hysterectomy and it continued up to three months. After that everything is fine.

I am 10 months since mine (ovaries left) and am still occasionally getting pain, especially if I've done too much, nothing like before the op though. I would say lay down more to ease pressure on your tummy, 5 weeks is very early days, took 3 months for me to even remotely feel like I was healed.

Don't lift any heavy weight over 20kg I think as there is a risk of hernia. That is for the rest of your life not short term.
