So pleased to hear you are doing so well! I’m now 3 weeks post op and similar to you i feel very well other than some fatigue. I did take an infection 12 days post op, it knocked me but I’m now back on track. Hope your positive recovery continues 😀.
I had a total abdominal hysterectomy in April, and was back home 2 days later. Not much pain at all, just fatigue and slight discomfort when getting on or off a chair. Like you, I was surprised how well I felt and it was GREAT not to feel the usual bloating or low abdominal aches, and overnight I started to save a fortune in sanitary wear! I was offered HRT (as ovaries has been removed) but decided to try without. I was getting half a dozen or so hot flushes a day, but now only get one or two. No other symptoms at all. Wish I had done this years ago!
Good luck with your recovery and rest when you need to.
I was advised to lay off exercise for at least 12 weeks (except for walking or swimming). I tried my aerobics program with light weights after 10 weeks and wished I hadn't! Not overly painful but definitely uncomfortable - similar to the aches I used to have before the op. I told my gynaecologist that I had tried to exercise after 10 weeks and she said really it should be after about 16 weeks - especially after an abdominal op. So, I would say leave it as long as you have been advised to, probably until you have had your 12wk post-op check up.
Hi there - you’ve had yr uterus and cervix removed - I think if you had everything taken out (like me) Boober you wouldn’t be feeling so good!!!! Having the ovaries removed as well seems to have a greater impact upon yr physical and emotional health. It’s a shock to the body and I’m suffering from a multiple of nasties xx 🙁
Hi boober06, was pleased to read your positive post on here. I am having a full hyst 12 Oct with ovaries and tubes out too. I can’t wait after non stop flooding for 5 months I am exhausted . It’s nice to gear your hubby is all over it, mine unfortunately has left this week after a very small argument - it doesn’t seem he could support me ! I am gutted about him but staying positive for the surgery . Hope you continue your recovery 😀
Hi I had a total hysterectomy 11 days ago and I was surprised as well as how I'm feeling. Just feeling a bit pulling now on my stomach but have had a little bit blood when I wipe after the loo. Started on patches as I am only 46 2 days after op and just started feeling hot. Not sure if this is flushes or infection so going to give it a few days to see how I go. Hope your recovery continues well but don't overdo it xx
