Surgical menopause

Hi all

I had total hysterectomy and Boston in April 2017 and was put on estradoil 2mg from day 2 of surgery. I have not had any of the usual side effects but over the last year had lack of concentration, fizzy head, visual disturbances that then turn into headaches, heavy head, tension in shoulders, anxiety off the scale, feelings of impending doom with lots of scenarios, nausea and worrying about what is wrong with me and crying at the drop of a hat. My GP said he thought I was stressed and put me on propranolol for migraine prevention and to help with anxiety but it lowered my heart rate too much and made me feel worse so cane off it. I think I could be on the wrong dose or route of her so I’ve made an appt with Newson clinic in Stratford-upon-Avon as feel I need the input of menopause specialist!! Has anyone else had or having these symptoms I feel like I’m going mad and actually wonder what is like to feel normal as it’s having a massive impact on daily life off work at moment and even going on holiday is not good as I don’t eat loss of appetite feeling full quickly but enjoying the nice things of life😫 really fed up any advice greatly recieved👍

Thanks in advance

EmmaSmith33,

It's not late to let you know that all of the above mentioned, I've gone through it all and more. Sometimes I realized the doctors also are not fully equipped with all the side effects of hysterectomy.

They gamble and are overwhelmed by what happens from one woman to another. We all go through similar and different side effects. Find a neurologist and any related doc to talk to. I remember my headache was relieved by Lexotanil, Dynacort and Zerodol-P. This might not work for you.

Betaserc, a Topiramate, Myospaz, Etcox, Amitriptyline didn't help me at all even after consuming for 2months. Stubborn headache that makes you feel like it's smoking within.

Acceptance + Embrace change + Staying positive +Renewed hope-Stress -Worrying = The new Us.

Stay blessed🙆🙆🙆

Are you also having your testosterone and progesterone monitored?

I'm on all three. I go to specifically a bioidentical hormone doctor who checks my blood every six months and we adjust the doses of all three should I need it. I'm also 55 yrs old.

Just estradiol might not be doing the trick.

Also, exercise, exercise, exercise.

Eat boat loads of greens.

Did I mention exercise?

Thank you for your replies. I’ve been to Newson Clinic but to be honest they didn’t really tell me anything I didn’t already know apart from going onto the Gel or patches rather than tablets as you are slightly more at risk of blood clots if you suffer with migraines. So I’m off to Gp to sort that out. I’m waiting to see a gastroenterologist regarding the nausea and bowel issues but I think it’s all linked with the anxiety and stress so hopefully getting that sorted I have a stressful job as a Nursing sister so along with the menopause and that it’s having an impact on daily life so here’s to getting sorted in 2020. At least having everything removed means I’m no longer in pain daily and no heavy periods I didn’t realise it would open another can of worms 🤣😂 onwards and upwards😘
