I am having various scans/MRI/Xrays done, but is there meant to be set time between certain ones as the damage they could cause you? I have all of these, and more, carried out recently surely they could damage my body when used within a short time? For example two skull MRI's done within 6 months of each other? I know repetitive xrays of the same part of the body done in a short time, is not recommended! Any suggestions?

MRI is not an xray, it is magnetic resonance imaging, uses a powerful magnet to pass radio waves through the body.
I know that! (sorry Piglette!)It is a combination of various scans, tests, heart monitor, DEXA scan, heart scan, skull MRI's [second one next Monday!], skull xray, spinal xray, CT scan, in less than six months [probably due to the pandemic conditions🥴 on our overworked NHS ] which I am worried about! The actual long term effects on the remains of my body by these, that I am worried about?ps guess who is getting a new laptop tomorrow, this one is......
😤😤😤
How many actual x-rays have you had? Those are what you need to worry about. The Dexascan is a very low X-ray. You can discount the MRI scans and also any ultra sound scans. Was the heart monitor a Haulter test? I have been having a multitude of heart tests recently also five Xrays for a dislocated on the same day.
A cold realisation of terminality, suddenly realised why, like a bolt from the blue, I have early dementia, in reality the reason for my medical importance, I knew that I was terminally ill, the NHS are inspecting me to find any hope with my general condition. My epilepsy has battered my body over fifty years, various tests scans recently determining how bad, "your next seizure will probably be your last!" speech highlighting this, my shaking hands happened before, in 2016, my change of medication then relieved this, but two changes of medication later the shaking hands are worsening, essentially I need to change medication, but I've practically been through the lot, stuck now in a rock and a hard place situation! Actually because of isolation some of those scans actually happened from June 2020, mri's of spine and skull [not xray's] happened within five days of each other! This is murder actually typing this, with my dementia, dodgy hands and dodgy laptop🥴Stay Cool!😗👍
I am so sorry to hear of all your problems. I suppose at the end of the day life is terminal sooner or later. I was always told if you have dementia you don’t realise it, if you don't and start thinking you do have it, you don’t, if that makes sense.
It's hard to tell about dementia, and the side effects of medication, which I strongly believe is causing my 'shaky' hands, they in their 'wisdom' test me again for Parkinson's, which AGAIN proves negative 🙃🤪small conciliation turmeric bringing almost normality to walking, actually able to 'run' to meet my sister in her car in front of hospital reception, first time since January 2018!🤗 My forgetfulness in memory matters, actually composing this 'bit', bringing me back to earth🥴The realisation of having shaking hands before in 2016, change of medication, early 2017 hands so steady, actually seriously thinking of taking up drawing classes! Effects of Fycompa on body and mind meaning that idea did not last long! Could the effects of the 'shaky hands syndrome' be long term effects of my present medication Vimpat and Briviact this would make sense😗The number of scans, etc, I cannot honestly remember, I am truly what they term a one off, the variety of them across such a wide field strengthens my lab. rat theory! The idea "if you have dementia you don’t realise it, if you don't and start thinking you do have it, you don’t" I don't believe that! My increasing lack of sharpfulness, coherence and memory makes me realise that I do have a form of dementia, my GP diagnosed me with early dementia in 2017, although that was mainly due to my Fycompa, which I know took three years just to rid me of it's deadly vibes! ALTHOUGH I'm no spring chicken anymore, full retirement in a couple of months, plus 400+ grand mal seizures did not help 🥴Thanks piglette heart tests can be a bit frightening, I have recently been tested for heart matters, but ironically my "heart flutters" were due to a reaction to the AZ vaccine🙄👍
Thanks piglette ! I now try to cut myself off from today's society/generation, I want to survive at my own pace, enjoy myself living by my own rules and standards for as long as possible👍and 😜to them!😆
Thanks piglette due to our conversations I could well have discovered a medical loophole in my current medical diagnosis's ?🤔😗👍
