Are 'childish' dreams a sign of dementia?

Going through what I would call a good period, after a long term bad period. Now I am getting dreams, I'm really panicking, has my body taken TOO much, wanting to get 'surveyed' mentally, I woke up this morning I honestly thought it was Monday, got in touch with various sites, why a parcel had not arrived for "Monday 30th March", have I gone over the top? My big sister had told me, before my downsizing started in May 2024, that I should go into a 'care home' I am 68 and retired, practically disabled all my life, [never my favourite sibling] BUT was she right?

Dementia does not have any bearing on that kind of dream activity that I am aware of. There are a number of relevant factors that influence dream activity, including significant life events and changes in routine. There are a number of medications, including epilepsy meds, that can also influence dream activity.

Dreaming is normal and plays important neurological functions, including memory processing, emotional regulation, and cognitive health. It is essential to problem-solving, creativity, neural plasticity and brain maintenance. I would not worry about dreaming unless the content was particularly disturbing. I would worry more about an absence of dreaming,

Don't worry too much about losing track of what day it is. It is pretty common when retired and not on a fixed schedule. You remembered that you were expecting a parcel. It would be more worrisome if you did not know you were expecting a parcel.

All the best my friend.

A bit of level headed advice, and common sense, certainly going through "significant life events and changes in routine" at present.🙄👌
