Just wondering if anyone can recommend a really good liquid food containing enough goodies to deal with hypoglycaemia? Many Thanks....finding it hard to eat solids with nausea.

Hi celticlady ,

There are shakes that are high protein and also plant based that can help raise blood sugars. I use them when my blood sugars start to drop in the middle of the night/early morning hours.

Hi celticlady. This is something I used to buy years ago for my dad and mum whenever they were unwell and couldn't eat properly and it's still made now. I don't know if you have a problem with lactose but have a look at the ingredients on this. They do a flavoured one I think but this is the best if you are nauseous.

My mom used to have this. She too had ataxia. Very good stuff. Thanks for reminding. Amynah

Hi Amynah. Neither of my parents had ataxia but whenever they were ill and couldn't eat, I would buy Complan for them and yes, it is very good stuff and has been around for many years. 🙂

Hi I am on soft diet and one thing I like is milkshake with - oats water and any fruit - you can add sweetener if you want. Just blend everything and drink. Hope this helps. Amynah

Hi Celtic lady,I am sorry to hear you are dealing with hypoglycemia. Since you mentioned you are made nauseous when eating solid food, have you talked to your doctor about it? Whether other testing might be needed?

Thank you, I'm eating better now , had some problems with palpitations and beta blockers but settled now. Been hypoglycemic due to thyroid problems and now have regulated eating times.

I am sorry I didn’t respond sooner. The last couple of months has been difficult for me. I am glad to hear you are on a regulated eating time. I hope it has been helping.
