Access to food

I can’t drive any more because of sight loss, also have profound hearing loss so shops are too difficult to access. Have had home delivery for years and the pickers always select the best produce as if they were choosing their own. I didn’t select organic but always get organic apples and other things if I need them. In the past I too preferred to select my own but life changes affected ability to do this as I live in a rural area.

It’s good to hear that you are getting organic produce in your deliveries Fittermetoday. I prefer to buy organic when I can as I’d rather not be consuming any chemicals if I can help it. 🙂

I am going to add my experience as a volunteer a few years ago to help people who are visually impaired and using computers. It is entirely possible and there is a lot of software available on Windows to help. The iPhone has wonderful built in accessibility features such as VoiceOver. So with a bit of training, a visually impaired person can interact with the phone and get it to speak what is on the screen.

Thank you , I also have a cochlea implant so am still learning to hear again & listening to mechanical voice overs can be difficult. Honestly home delivery is the best thing for me ;) My family also bring home extra shopping when required.

I too have most of my groceries delivered, but I do prefer to select my fresh veg myself as I'm a bit picky, especially over my salad stuff. As my local Supermarket is fairly close I stagger down with my Rollator a couple times a week.
