Hi everyone,
August is upon is tomorrow and August is my favourite summer month even though I become very aware of the evenings drawing in by the end of August, which's what makes fruit and veg ripen.
So far I've harvested raspberries and gooseberries and I am very much looking forward to my tomatoes ripening as you cannot beat the taste of home grown tomatoes I have 6 plants all in pots and with ripening tomatoes.
I've heritage apple and pear trees growing but they haven't any crops yet but guess they need to establish themselves and I'm not a very good gardener.
Here's a link to the National Trust's article on whats in season in August and there are some very tempting recipes and I love the sound of the Moroccan style roasted cauliflower salad and as for apple and blackberry scones they're on my list of must make this August.
Here's the article with recipes, please see:

The photo is of some of my home grown tomatoes which I hope ripen real soon.
Its Allotment week in August as well folks please see our events so photo's off your crops are most welcome.
