Mountain life has it's surprises. No the least of which is the occasional sighting of one of our seldom seen residents. A friend of mine sets up trail cams for fun and to monitor the wild life. He caught this guy about maybe a mile away from our village..j just up the trail from my cabin.
I had been up that very trail earlier in the day.
This guy manages to bulk up pretty well on the various wild nut and berries available here.
How wonderful, you are so fortunate. Being in England, the biggest wild creatures I see are foxes and I absolutely love them. I put food out for them daily and got to see ‘my’ fox for the first time yesterday. Seems to be a very pretty vixen.
Lovely photo and great to see them in their natural environment. I read this morning that two brown bears were shot at a zoo in England yesterday after a tree fell on their enclosure and they managed to escape into a neighbouring enclosure. They didn't think it was safe to sedate them so they were killed, so sad. I love seeing wildlife. My garden isn't particularly big but we get foxes and for the last couple of years squirrels, and have some resident hedgehogs. A couple of years ago I saw a badger in the front garden but haven't seen it since.
That's a fun thing to have a lively yard. We have a whole range of critters here. We are located 5545'ft. elevation, It's a transition zone between Chaparral and Alpine As a "reward", we have plants and critters from both zones.. it's almost non stop entertainment here. Gotta love it!
