I used to cook when I was between wives, but, since I was widowered in 2016, I was able to eat at OAP lunch clubs and reasonably-priced cafes and pubs within walking distance -and appreciated the company. There was always a raffle at the lunch clubs- so I accumulated a cupboard full of tinned soup and fish.
My microwave has a "crispy jacket" program that will acceptably cook jacket potatoes in less half an hour - so, for months, for lunch, I have eaten:
143gm raw carrot
3 jacket potatoes with butter and
143gm melted Red Leicester Cheese
Broccoli or whatever green vegetables I could find.
I eat buckwheat Muesli and fruit for breakfast and fast 20:4
This is a lot of carbohydrate, but I am now at 14% body fat and BMI 25.
¿Is this an adequate diet?
My digestive system was beginning to feel that it had had enough cheese, so I ate tinned fish and rice cakes for a couple of days...
...and today I cooked the chicken that has been in the freezer for about four years.
I thought it might be a bit dry, so I cooked it with half a pound of bacon... and it was delicious.
Another speciality in my very limited repertoire is baked fillet of fish... baked in foil with olive oil - and I might try that this week.
