Good morning, I am a woman, almost 70 years old. I have never been slim but was around the same weight of 66kg all my life. I have always been active and healthy and was happy with that weight.
However for various family reasons, the last two years have been extremely stressful and as I comfort food, I put on 7 kg. I am not comfortable in my clothes and yesterday I realised I was getting out of breath climbing a very gentle hill.
I know the principles of losing weight but need the motivation to stick to it. I eat healthily during the day ( although I realise size of portions might be an issue ) but do go to the kitchen to snack in the evening which is the worse time to do it.
How can I overcome this ? Thank you

Good morning Tirefedite and welcome to the community and good for you for wanting to lose weight and get fitter as you're in great company for that. Now you are not alone in taking comfort in food and its a habit that you want to break and what I do is snack on a bag of grapes as they are healthy packed with nutrition and don't have the calories of sugary snacks.
Eating healthier and having regular exercise is the answer to getting fit and then staying fit so I'd do it so it is sustainable for you and then you won't look back.
Well done for introducing yourself and I hope that you enjoy being a member of our friendly community.
Jerry 😊
Hi Tirefedite,
I know exactly what you mean about snacking at night which to me is a bad habit as I never use to eat after 5.30 pm until the lockdown! Now I find myself eating rubbish which I put down to being in a rut because I'm no longer attending the gym daily!
A few days ago I decided enough is enough and started my mornings with a smoothie followed by a healthy lunch.
If I found myself desperate for a snack in the evening, I'd have carrot sticks which I dip in a low fat minted yoghurt! (Plain yogurt with a tablespoon of Colemans Mint Sauce and mix together)! Another treat is to grill some chicken tikka for nibbles and keep in the fridge which you can also dip in the same sauce or as they come which are very filling and healthy.
