Hi there
In the last post about wasting I mentioned canning as a way to preserve. Here are some samples of the canning I do.
Top row from leafy to right
-Beets (not pickled) I do hate to prepare them but I love them! so when the bag is given at the end of the summer I pressure can a batch.
-Mature chicken is really low price. You take your knife... take out the meat... in a glass jar and in the pressure canner... you can add it to multiple recepies.
-Ready to eat chicken sausage gumbo soup.
-Baked beans in tomato sauce
-Green tomato ketchup. Never throw away those delicious green tomatoes from your tomato plant!
Bottom row from left to right
-Chicken stock. Ready to use and made with the bone of the mature chicken you see in the top row. No waste of chicken!
-Ready to eat Chili con carne
-Chick peas with no salt.
-Bread and butter cucumber
-Pickled watermelon rinds. Another no waste recepie... and those are truly delicious!
