Hello Cookiemk Please ring 111 the NHS help line as your daughter obviously needs medical attention and treatment so please seek it.

Good luck to you both.

Jerry 😊

I think you should speak to her doctor if she's still not going. How long did the doctor say to try the laxative before going back?

12 days is a long time, and I don't think anything we say will be able to help if a prescribed product isn't doing the job.

I rang 111 on Friday and took her to the urgent care centre they just suggested upping movicol but didn't offer anything else

Hi Cookiemk

I hope your daughter is ok - and that the visit to the hospital goes ok.

Take care,

Hello Cookiemk ,

It is very distressing worrying about our children's wellbeing isn't it. You have taken your daughter to be checked up and have been given medicine for her so you are doing the right things. Sometimes they need time to work?. I have no medical training. I am mum. My daughter is 24 now. At 7 she had a strong reluctance to passing stools due to pain caused by trying to pass a hard stool previously. Stress and fear can work against the natural processes taking place. Lots of factors can cause a child to subconsciously hold it in. The brain is powerful. Mind over matter, so to speak? Try and take the stress out of toilet visits? My G.p. advised a set routine , taking things into the bathroom to help relaxation : like a favourite book, headphones and music ,best cuddly toy etc..... Give her a limited time frame to to try and pass a stool but don't fret if nothing "occurs" . A warm bath can help relax things too.

I completely agree with other posted replies that you should get medical advise again if you are worried ! Follow your instincts.

Definitely keep up her hydration levels as this will always help. I hope you both feel better soon.

Best wishes.xx
