I have tried maintaining a healthy diet for so long. I could only go as far as 4 days max and I am back with more aggression and longing towards food especially junk foods. My friend lost a significant amount of healthy weight looking smart and all. I often times take her hard work as an inspiration but nevertheless I end up at the same spot where all of my diet ends!!!! This is sometimes so frustrating! I really need some motivation also tips and tricks to how to maintain a healthy weightloss journey. I am a medcial student on a break right now for a week or so. As I have so much study load I find it difficult to coop up with the journey.
I will be starting the nhs 12 weeks plan from tomorrow hopefully I'll try to achieve this one dieting goal.

Since you're a medical student, I suggest you assign yourself a little research project to find out why people get fat. It'll hopefully take you less time than most to figure it out. Hint: it is not because they eat too many calories. While that theory sounds superficially plausible, a little examination of the way your body regulates power flow and energy storage will tell you it can't possibly be true.
As you've already discovered, "healthy eating" advice is almost impossible to follow. The simple reason is that it isn't healthy. You'll find that once you actually do start eating healthy food, your body breathes a metaphorical sigh of relief, stops craving junk, and the excess weight will fall off without any particular effort on your part.
Hi medicoforlife unfortunately like many others you are your own worst enemy and you have to change your attitude to food and then you can change your relationship with food.
So what is food? it is our fuel it is what makes our bodies and mind work so you have to see junk good as empty calories that are making you unhappy and over weight and it's up to you to change your mindset.
I personally dislike junk food and enjoy really healthy foods and love simple things like a bowl of raspberries rather than something that has no nutritional value and makes my teeth tingle because of the excess sugar.
Many of us try and add extra nutrients here and there with seeds nuts herbs and spices. If you do the same as you are young you would soon be on your way to a healthy and sustainable you...
Thanks for introducing yourself and welcome to the group and I hope that you find the inspiration that you're looking for.
I wish you well and we need medics so good for you.
If you get to the end of 4 days and struggle to go further, it's likely you're being too restrictive. You should investigate intuitive eating, which is about teaching us to listen to the signals our bodies send us, breaking away from diet mentality, and ultimately how to avoid the cycle of restricting and binging.
On a basic level, you should make sure you're eating until you feel full. Fill your plate with veg to help you achieve this.
Don't go cold turkey on lots of things all at once, as totally cutting out X, y & z indefinitely is what makes us binge. Allow yourself little bits of what you fancy, but just make the effort to cut back.
Find other things to occupy your time, that don't involve food. If you eat because you're bored, find hobbies to stop that.
Oh and I forgot to say, stop comparing yourself to others! You aren't your friend, she isn't you. You aren't doing yourself any favours by trying to copy someone else's achievements.
I agree with all of the above. Cut junk food but don’t restrict protein, vegetables and healthy fats. Great breakfast 2 rashers of bacon, 1 or 2 eggs mushrooms cooked in butter and a handful of spinach wilted. All with sea salt and course ground pepper. This will keep you sustained until almost your evening meal if you feel as though you need something have a piece of cheese and a few nuts. As you can see very low carbs. I find eating carbs only make me feel hungry. Check out the LCHF forum too, lots of information there.
