DIP joint finger cyst

Diagnosis: IP (DIP JOINT) first joint of the finger. A sac fills with sticky fluid. Surgery is not the best recommended treatment option. Apparently this cyst(family of ganglion cysts) stems from the joint, arthritic condition in the hand? I didn't know this was a problem on this hand. I came across this site. In my mind it seems this is healable naturally. The surgeon said it is common. I have not encountered this or met any other person with this issue. I have been using YL frankincense oil. It was recommended. No good results. The doc froze the cyst 2 times. It sort of got better but came back. This honey/ cinnamon regimen was mentioned. Arthritis apparently is the underlying culprit. The fluid is leaking from the joint. I assume I need to stop the leaking. I'm seeking ideas that will work. Thank you.

Hi Choiceeats

You mentioned 'ganglion cysts' - and there is some information on NHS Choices about that family of cyst, but I doubt it is anything extra to what you've already discussed with your Specialist - but I'll give you think link just incase you want to double check if it might be of help:

nhs.uk/conditions/ganglion/

This is the Healthy Eating forum, so I am not sure that we will have anything that can help you - but maybe that information link might be of some help.

I hope you can get some relief for it.

Zest :-)

Hi there I'd wash your cyst with a weak solution of hydrogen peroxide as that's an anti septic that will help kill the bacteria causing the cyst.

Good luck with it.

Yes, the cyst is on my ring finger also.

The problem is the source. A leaky joint. That must cease or the problem will return. The doctors say surgery, only if absolutely necessary. Everything I am reading supports this opinion of the surgeon and other doctors. Infection is a big concern, it appears, because the the cyst is a direct line to the joint.

I'm seeking a solution that will stop the fluid leaking from the joint? If that continues, surgery or any other temporary fix, will be just that. Temporary. This cyst location is the first joint of the ring finger. Healing is long term from what I am told and can create greater problems? It is confirmed by what I read. I am unsure of the direction to go based on the information presented.

This finger had no symptoms until this cyst popped up 6 months ago.

You are the first one who has had this cyst who has spoken about it. I have a wide range of people in my life. It baffles me. The doctor says it is common? Apparently not in my circle of acquaintances.

How long ago was the surgery you had?

How was the healing process?

Has the cyst reappeard?

What is your age?

I am 73, active, in good health

I will return to the doctor and re-evaluate the course of action after I have more informtion. Once the knife cuts, there is no return.

Thank you for responding.

I appreciate it.
