I had nothing but processed foods today. I know they say to take it easy and not to starve yourself of your favorites but god I did horrible today. I am in a good mood, but boy am I in need of a serious exercise session. Good news is I won’t be working overtime this coming week so I will have time to run and make some veggies. I am just way too anxious!

Hi Imaspecial, this is interesting as you say about eating your favourite foods but are now regretting your choices.

When really the trick is to change your attitude to what you eat so you don't see unhealthy foods as a treat but for what they are, in that they lead us to being over fed and undernourished and unhappy.

We get used to certain foods and crave that sugar rush but loathe the sugar dip so it's short term gratification over long term health and our well being and I know which my choice is...

So enjoy your weekend and being able to take exercise and you've made the first step by acknowledging something has got to change and I wish you well with your quest.

Jerry 😊

What kind of processed foods are you on about? There'll be recipes for healthy versions of them somewhere. It's not difficult to do once you've tried a couple of things out.

Chocolate chip cookies and ritz

Opt for nibbling on some healthy >70% cocoa chocolate & or some walnuts & almonds instead of the cookies for a good micronutrient boost. Next time you crave salty, fatty processed carbs, try half a sliced or mashed avocado on a piece of sourdough as an alternative nutritional fix. Your insides & outsides will thank you for giving it healthy treats with lots of low GI nutritional benefits! Turn the avocado skin inside out & you get a bonus facepack. :)

My skin is very sensitive, so as much as I love nuts and chocolate. I think they do havoc on my skin and I hate breaking out. I guess I should start juicing more often.

Do you have break outs with all types of nuts or just certain types?

>70% cocoa is low in sugar & bad fat. so won't cause a breakout. Try 10-15g (that's about half an ounce) a day.

Almonds & walnuts are great for good skin. Peanuts aren't nuts, & they're high in inflammatory omega 6 oil, so avoid those.

I have extremely sensitive skin, & eat those foods every day with no issues.

These are some of the recipes I've done, I don't have dairy so I don't know about ritz but you could stick some Parmesan in the crackers? I've put chives and paprika in most of the time.

The ingredients cost a bit more but they're all full of nutrients that are good for you ( unless you're nut intolerant! ) and are therefore much more decadent than your average snack, haha.

Like anything sweet though it's still sugar, don't forget so you'll put weight on if you eat a whole batch every day!

I live at home and my mom buys something sweet almost every other day. The temptation is always here. But like today I started with a simple egg and spinach breakfast. So I’ll be good today I hope. But you’re right having alternatives is the best thing to do. Thank you.

Do you eat Greek yogurt for breakfast as an option?

Imaspecial profile image
Imaspecial in reply toActivity2004

No. I use to snack on it. Maybe I should incorporate it again

I eat Greek yogurt every morning for breakfast with two hard boiled eggs. Lots of protein and not too many carbs..
