Morning everyone, hoping you're all still looking forward to out new Sugar-Free challenge?
We had a good week with the challenge last week, and I'm hoping those who couldn't join us then, will be excited for the fresh challenge starting today. I'm going to use a lot of the info from last week, to help with this week too.
On Monday last week, I talked about breakfast, but I think today would be better to talk about meals in general.
Sugar is in a lot of the convenience foods out there, even quite a few seemingly innocent sources, like spice mixes, stock cubes and cold meats. Going sugar free will generally be easier if we spend our week focusing on whole foods, plenty protein and healthy fats.
I'd love if people can share some of the meals they'll be having today

Hi Cooper27 I’m doing fine as I eat a largely whole food gluten free diet. I haven’t had any home made sweet treats so have a banana/fruit instead if I want a snack.
This morning I had a boiled egg with 2 slices of home baked gf bread which doesn’t need sugar. For lunch I had a salad sandwich with egg Mayo and sliced nut luncheon with tomatoes.
For dinner I’m going to have a salad with Cornish new potatoes and I’m not sure with what yet I’ll see what I feel like.
You’re very right about them putting sugar in lots of things like ketchup.
I hope the sugar challenge is going well for everyone as you’re getting great guidance from Cooper. 😊
Hi Cooper27 what a great idea for a challenge! For my brunch this morning I had a simple 2 egg omelette, made with olive oil, some sliced peppers, chillies, onion, some manchego cheese - with green salad on the side, no dressings. You're right.. it is amazing where sugar gets added these days. The biggest surprise to me was low fat milk having higher sugar/carbohydrate content than whole milk! Tonight we'll be having home made beef 'bolognese', served with vegetables (broccoli and cauliflower), not spaghetti. The 'bolognese' sauce is made with garlic, onions, olive oil, tomatoes, mushrooms, plus herbs and seasoning. Nothing special, but the family love it.
I hope your day is going well! Glad to have found this challenge, as it fits in with my general healthy eating goals.
That sounds like a good day! Your meals sound great to me
Hi Cooper27, it is a great Sugar Free Challenge for everyone and I think it’s a daily practice for us to maintain good health. There’s so much sugar in everything that we consume and we need to be aware always. Have a wonderful start of the week! 😊🙏☀️🌻☮️🌺
DAY 1 Sugar free challenge. So, I forgot to check the Oatabix box for sugar before I had one with water for breakfast. It turns out it has sugar in it. Lunch was some tinned tuna in spring water which I mixed with soft light cheese and also had 2 GF cheese oatcakes. And 3 walnut halves. Evening meal : Home made Cauliflower cheese , ordinary mashed potatoes & a rasher of bacon. Followed by a few grapes & half a large size banana
Redbush tea and plain mineral water throughout the day.
I don't think I ate/drank enough yesterday, I was extra hungry today and nothing seemed to fill the hole.
I made a giant stir fry (photo) for lunch, with a decent amount of oil. I worried it was a bit low on protein for my hunger day, so I followed with a protein smoothie.
For dinner I had leftover roast chicken with oven roasted cauliflower, broccoli, sweet potato, carrots and radishes and I snacked on oatcakes with cheese, olives and carrots with guacamole.
