If you look at the research it is comparing life expectancy of saturated fats with poly-unsaturated fats. What it is concluding is that if you replace saturated with polyunsaturated then your life expectancy improves.
This research says nothing, as far as I can see, about whether removing poly-unsaturated yields even further life expectancy.

Good point - reminds me of this section of the BBC trust me I'm a doctor program:
"Typically, original research might be summarised by a university press officer, who will word a press release in such a way as to generate interest in the story. It might then be picked up by a journalist, who will write an article, again with the intention of maximising interest. After this, a sub-editor might give the article a headline designed to grab readers’ attention or attract clicks online."
A good post here and thank you andyswarbs . I stick by eating a varied diet and ensuring it's healthy i.e. containing plenty of vegetables, I can't eat much fruit because of IBS. I've started to take some articles with a 'pinch of salt' as there are so many out there.
I agree Andy, it's a good point to think about the source of information, and its credibility and how well it has been reported etc.

Hi Andy,
You've made a very good point here and my observation is this research was part funded by Unilever who have just sold some of the margarine brands for a cool £6billion.
So isn't it nice of them to fund research that'll benefit our health...💲😊💲
