Remedies
Hi Gene,
I make elderberry tincture & syrup, I use an assortment of herbal remedies as well as raw honey & lemon. The syrup tastes lovely as I add star anise, cloves, & cinnamon, though the tincture has more of a medicinal kick: healthunlocked.com/healthye......
I also like golden milk for a comforting evening drink: healthunlocked.com/healthye...... I've been cheating adding powdered turmeric with coconut flour, & ground black pepper & cinnamon to hot milk, then adding a little honey once it's at drinking temperature.
Make sure to use raw honey as pasteurisation causes a loss in it's therapeutic qualities, & don't heat it too much as this renders it unhealthy.
Most herbs & spices have health benefits, & there are lots of websites dedicated to home remedies.

There is a remedy for most ailments....depends what you are after!
Honey is a natural antiseptic which is why it goes with lemon in a lot of cough treatments - lemon (and blackcurrants etc) being for the vitamin c which is helpful for the immune system.
Very trendy at the moment is turmeric as a preventative for cancer and a boost to the immune system.
Fish oils are recommended for arthritis and joint pain.
Dark chocolate to prevent alzheimer's.
Green veg, nuts and red meat for iron.
Dairy foods as a source of calcium, not forgetting sunshine for Vitamin D for strong bones.
The idea is to eat a wide variety of foods with a wide variety of colours and your body will find everything it needs. People with deficiencies are usually those who eat a very narrow range of foods or suffer from some form of ill-health.
Enjoy experimenting with your herbs and spices!
