My new garlic press has just arrived! ๐
Iโm delighted that it also crushes turmeric. My finger nails are saved, though Iโll still have yellow hands for a week.

Joseph Joseph. The only garlic crusher that can withstand the acidic sea water elements in Jamaica and daily splashes in the dishwasher. Does she have a name yet? ๐ Mine is Princess Josephine.
It is!
It's a much needed replacement for the plastic one that snapped on it's second clove. I had no idea it had such good credentials, & shall immediately start plotting a trip to The Caribbean!
My kitchen gadgets don't have names, being a republican, certainly not aristocratic ones,. My choice of label tends to be more along the lines of hurt words for those which don't work. I am not allowed to write what I've called my slow cooker this week. In fairness, the issue was entirely with the operator's failure to read the instructions, & underestimate the cooking time for 2 then 4 portions of porridge ~ crispy & overdone, respectively.
My lentil, kale & turmeric soup is off to a good start...
๐ Iโve been banned from John Lewis as I like to pop in and stroke the utensils in the JJ section. My kitchen is three different colours, so until they get those colours in I used to be appeased by viewing their different coloured cousins. White, grey, fluorescent pink, orange and baby blues were not a good substitute.
I was tasked with sending my ex pat (to Jamaica ๐ฏ๐ฒ) cousin kitchen utensils every six months but JJ has made me redundant for the last three years. Great stuff even the knives hardly need sharpening - keeps my husband on his toes ๐๐ธ๐พ๐คด๐ป
Iโm going to guess: Slolita or Siobhan for your slow cooker - I had another name but itโs vanished.
Iโll wait eagerly for next week when you can divulge. ๐
You bad thing! I'm surprised they didn't call the police!
My only other JJ utensils (doesn't that word remind you of school cookery lessons?) are two chopping boards, which didn't pass muster. I like the pretty colours but not the durability, especially with regard to garlic press 1.
I use Kuhn Ricon knives, as they're sharp enough to work, but not to cut myself as badly as the chef's knives I was given. I wasn't even running!
The slow cooker, or rather myself, is the one being called less polite names. My only named gadget are my beautiful Sputnik espresso machines, a model of which I once spotted on the telly. I love them even more than my fridge model, which I saw a few times on screen.
Hoping the soup will be ready today, but as I've only just remembered to add the lentils, it could be tomorrow's lunch rather than today's supper. Kefir to the rescue...
Ooh what a neat gadget and I thought turmeric came in a jar...๐
Other forms are available. I've even seen it in a packet!
The cafe I had the tasty turmeric soup in is attached to a sizable wholefood shop that stocks wondrous things. I've previously bought it from the good ethnic shop just up the road, where all the local veg*ns go for staples & exotica. Think I've spotted turmeric root in the supermarket next to chillies & lemongrass.
I should have crushed the turmeric before the garlic, as I'd meant to make golden milk whilst I was waiting for the soup. I'm sure garlic would make it even more healthy, but don't think I could drink it!
Fantastic! I don't think I've ever seen turmeric root like that - I must look out for some!
Zest xx
I'm sure Waitrose sell it if you haven't got an Asian shop near you. Wear gloves if you use a grater!
First time I've used that much, & throat's tingly, so it's doing something!

Nice, you have any more pics of this crusher?
I've never seen so many people happy over a garlic crusher.
It's an aesthetically pleasing well designed kitchen gadget, as well as being exceptionally functional. Definitely gets 10/10 & worth every penny!
I've always hated messy garlic presses that are a b****r to clean, & was disappointed when the plastic one broke.
I was bought one of those ridiculously expensive Phillip Stark citrus presses, which has never been used due to being made from aluminium. 1/10 for design, & 0/10 for functionality.
