Is this head cold the reason I feel worse again?

To anyone who followed or read my last post I stated how I was in a bad way with my health. Since that post over been slowly getting better and in the last week I've felt a good bit better. But recently o crashed I guess you could say. Everything went back to square one. I didn't have any idea why. I didn't do anything differently. But when I crashed I had a head cold coming on me that's being going around. I wonder if that's what caused me to feel worse again? Also I haven't went back to the doctor yet.

Sorry you're poorly, but on the bright side, at least you've had one step forward! :)

Make sure to eat plenty of fresh fruit as vitamin C is good for helping fight colds. Also zinc.

Once you're feeling better, keep up with trying to eat healthily, & see your doctor if you need to.

Don't get despondent as we all have setbacks.

Do you think the head cold just put a little hault to my healing? I seemed to be healing and now that I have this head cold things seem to be back to the worst again. I'm thinking it could be because my immune system has to try heal the head cold as well?

Did you see your doctor about your cold?

It's not a bad head cold but I feel like it made my other symptoms worse again because my immune system is working to heal that aswell now

Can you take anything for the cold?

People are advised here to avoid attending doctors' surgeries for cold or cough treatment so that the virus or bacteria causing it is not spread to other people. The general advice is to drink a lot of fluids & take paracetamol (acitomenofen in the US) or mild OTC anti-inflammatories if the symptoms feel severe.

In my biomedicine lectures, we were told that these medications lower our body temperature, which can be life saving for children that have a high temperature. However, lowering our body temperature also lowers the body's immune response so that the illness may last longer.

If natural treatments' don't help, I will take paracetamol for a day or two if I feel I'm at death's door. I dislike cold medications that contain a decongestant as they irritate my sinuses & exacerbate head cold symptoms.

It will do. Just keep thinking that once it's cleared up, you'll be on your way to getting better again. Try as hard as you can to look after yourself in the meantime. Drink plenty of fluids to make sure you're not dehydrated. I really like hot water with a few slices of lemon. The steam helps clear my stuffy nose. I also find sniffing eucalyptus oil helps, or one of those Vicks nasal inhalers. If I get a really bad cold, I lie on a hot bath with a hot flannel over my face that has a few drops of eucalyptus on, but be careful doing that if your skin is sensitive, though just a steaming flannel will help.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks for the replies. I'm having some lemon and ginger tea with some coconut oil right now to try heal things a bit faster. I've been drinking a good amount of water too. I guess I just have to be patient now. I am actually hoping the setback is due to the head cold because as you said I can start healing again once I'm over it. Hopefully that's the case.

I find that Echinacea works wonders. I started to feel run down a couple of weeks ago, I had a sore throat, went off my food (that's rare) and was generally run down. I decided to start taking Echinacea and within a couple of days I was just about back to normal, I just had a tickly cough which was nothing at all.

I hope that you feel better soon.
