Does waking up the same time every day work to fix a bad sleeping schedule? Like if you go to bed at like 3am and wake up at 8am for a few days or a week would you eventually start going to bed at like 11pm?

Does waking up the same time every day work?
Yes, it should work, but it may take longer than a few days. I did it for about 3 months under the supervision of a sleep psychologist before my new sleep pattern really took hold. And I had to do all the usual 'sleep hygiene' related things too, like keeping the bedroom as dark as possible, putting the light off as soon as getting into bed, not reading, watching television, using phone etc in the bedroom. Also avoiding caffeine drinks late in the day, and cutting down alcohol. I also kept a sleep diary of time of lights out, waking and sleep quality.
I have had awful sleep patterns now for 8 months. It has got so bad that I suffer anxiety through it and nothing is getting done during the day as I am so lethargic. I have just started seeing a sleep psychologist last week .I have to keep a sleep diary for her so that next week we can start a plan. I can easily fall asleep on the sofa at 1am but I wake up half hour later then start watching tv
I won't go to bed untill 5am .. I don't know why but I just can't. Hope you get to manage your sleep soon 😊
Good luck with the sleep diary.
Have you also been checked for sleep apnea? I had that too, i dont think it caused my insomnia but it did result in very poor sleep quality.
Thank you. Well so far I have been doing my sleep diary for the therapist to look at. I don't have sleep apnoea I never had any sleep problems at all until 8 months ago .I am due to see my doctor on 25 April and then the liver clinic on 9th may. It's no better, If anything it's worse ! 5.30 am I went to bed. I slept through my alarm and never woke toll 1pm today!! I'm really struggling 🙂
