Just joined up to see what healthy eating options there are.

I have access to interesting supplements etc. but was wondering what everybody else does to deal with ailments etc. I am trying to stay clear of prescription drugs as far as possible in dealing with family ailments.

Hi Kenny,

I stick to a clean food vegetarian diet, as much as is possible. Lots of water, fresh & dried fruit, veg, nuts, seeds & pulses for protein, kefir & some dairy, daily dark chocolate and a coffee, but not too much starchy food.

I drink green or white tea with lemon, & add a spoon of elderberry syrup every morning. I make this with cinnamon, cloves, & star anise, as these boost the immune system & help my joints. Golden milk made with turmeric is on my list of things too add.

Hi Leverette

Sounds good I have been having water kefir for a year now and it seems to help my digestion.

I am starting to get in to other bits and pieces to help my body. It just takes some organising, getting the right things and to that just being active helps.

I've not tried water kefir. The dairy version has helped my digestion, too, though I started making it for the B12 & K2 that I thought I was lacking.

Take a look at Chris Kresser & Mark Hyman's websites for free nutrition articles. Kefir aside, they're pro-paleo, whih would be hard with my diet, but good for what to eat & avoid.
