Has your doctor suggested that you go on a low carb high fat or low carb high protein diet? Low carb high protein dieting helps me with weight loss and tighter blood sugar control for my type 1 Diabetes along with my insulin and a Continuous Glucose Monitoring system.😀👍
Rob if you end up in a carvery ask to just have the steamed veg. A brilliant meal that really packs those veggies in. I even had one hotel wgo refused to charge me for my large plate of vegetables. Gosh was I happy!
Welcome to the healthy eating forum, and good luck with your couch to 5k!
Are you running for weight loss, or just because you wish to improve fitness levels? That can influence what foods you should eat before/after running.
I learned that when we do cardio exercise, our bodies will start off by burning glycogen reserves in our muscles, where the body tends to have approx. 20 minutes of reserves. After 20 minutes, it will start to burn carbs or fat, depending on what is available to it. This basically means if you've just eaten carbs in the hour or so before running, it will try to burn those, but if you haven't eaten any, it will burn your fat reserves instead. If you're simply running for performance, then having some carbs around half an hour before you go can improve performance.
Thanks for the welcome. Not too bothered about weight loss, more to keep my fitness up. I’m also working to try to build up my muscle mass. I think carbs are my weakness though! Hate feeling hungry so I end up craving them! 🤦♂️

Great to hear that you're already eating quite healthy foods. Glad you're enjoying the Couch to 5km app as well - I've not used it, but I do enjoy a bit of jogging and running, it's great fun.
Hope you're enjoying your week and managing to stay comfortable in the heat.
