I have type 2 diabetes. I'm slim and fit - spinning three times a week, golf once a week and a good walk on Sunday. How should I modify my diet to improve my outlook?

Spinning?Sounds fun!
Hello!
There is a community on here LCHF - low carb high fat.
Reading around the subject and posts this can be very effective with diabetes.
A few people on here follow this regime (I am just putting my toe in the water!)
There are good websites on the subject if you do a Google search.
Although LCHF works for many, it can, if you have any other health issues be a difficult one to keep to. I can't do it because GP says my hiatus hernia and gallstones will be affected. However, as a T2 diabetic I do try to restrict my carbs, swapping them out in meals for more veg etc. I'd recommend that you go onto the diabetes.org.uk website and have a look at their great info and educational module for T2 diabetics.
Also, ask to go on the xperthealth.org.uk training course, its really helpful and enlightening. I try to aim for 100-195g of carbs a day and recommend the Carbs & Cals book by Chris Cheyette and is available in book form (on Amazon) and an app for your phone.
I'm on both the websites and pages on Facebook and I prefer the .org site to the .co.uk one but I do dip in and out of both. The .org site follows the NICE guidelines and gives lots of helpful information on diets etc, not just LCHF (which isn't for everyone) and I found the Xperthealth course was excellent on teaching carb awareness etc.
I found that cutting back on starchy carbs was a huge help. Adding fiber to my diet leveled the blood sugar and even helped if I cheated. Big fiber fan!
