I have been told by the doctor that I am borderline diabetic with very high cholesterol, so I have to do this now. No more excuses. I always start well, but tail off after a week or so, and then three months go by like a flash and I haven't lost anything. I am going to post here often to try and remind myself to keep going.

You're exactly the same as me midwlyn I was told that a year ago and I'm still trying to get some weight off. I try and try but it just never seems to happen I don't know what I need to happen to make it sink in I need to do something. Hopefully we'll both cop on soon. Good luck
Maybe you need to remind yourself what a diabetic is. It is not just someone who takes insulin to control diabetes and everything is OK. There are potentially very serious health issues down the line. Maybe that will motivate you? Also count your blessings that you have found to be pre-diabetic as you (and only you) have a chance to put this right.
It is not so much about the weight but about controlling your blood sugar. If you do that then the weight could take care of itself.
I have been impressed with Patrick Holford's books before and you may wish to check these out on Amazon (put an Amazon search of Patrick Holford as my link did not work).
I find looking at a particular book title and then following the reviews may give you more ideas on what to do next.
