My mum (age 60+) can't taste anything.

My mum who is in her 60s can't taste anything, she's been on many courses of antibiotics for respiratory infections etc. I believe the anti biotic use might have something to do with it.

I've bought her probiotics to replace the friendly bacteria. Any idea what else I can do?

I've no idea about the taste sensation but probiotics are close to useless - try kefir and sauerkraut. Both have the bacteria she needs :) x

Hi Rumeiz, I have the same problems as your mom, and I can tell you the best thing you can do is to try and build up her immune system, wich is no doubt very low. I myself have almost lost my life to respiratory problems. Every year I worry about getting a chest infection. So I know her immune system will be rock bottom due to antibiotics. Firstly get her to drink water with a slice of squeezed lemon in it,and just keep topping it up all day ,this is the best source of vit C,blueberries, raspberries ,beetroot, carrots. These are all things to keep her well. If she's lost her taste that don't matter it will come back. I'm 71yrs old and I've suffered like your mom up untill I was 64yrs old. But I've been well for the last 7yrs due to keep on building up my immune system. One more tip get her some anti bacterial sanitizer and tell her not to leave the house without it. Hope this has been some help. Take care
